Recycling aluminium can deliver a major energy advantage, but a serious green project must go further: quantify material recovery, process energy, losses, waste streams and improvement over time.

The project is aligned with circular-economy logic because its core activity is recovering aluminium already in circulation. Site-level impact, however, should be demonstrated through evidence rather than assumed from the sector alone.
Industry sources state that aluminium recycling can use only around 5% of the energy required for primary metal production. That is a powerful reason to expand recycling capacity, but it does not replace facility-specific measurement.
Alvion Chem therefore intends to build its environmental reporting around material balance, energy intensity, yield, dross and waste management, traceability and improvement projects.

European circularity
European Aluminium identifies recycling as a strategic pillar of Europe’s circular economy and reports that recycled aluminium already supplies a substantial share of internal European demand.
This creates a long-term case for investment in collection, sorting, processing, traceability and high-quality secondary aluminium capacity. The opportunity for the Western Balkans is to participate in that value chain with credible, measurable industrial projects.
